Miuccia Prada is an Italian fashion designer best known as the head of Prada, a fashion powerhouse that specializes in luxury goods. She was an unlikely entrepreneur, who had no formal fashion training when she took over her family’s luggage business in 1978. By 1985 she made a name for herself when she unveiled a series of black nylon handbags and backpacks with understated labeling; a stark contrast to the logo heavy product in fashion at the time.
Much of what set the company apart from the rest of the fashion world is her seeming disregard for the fashion industry. The designer has always blazed her own trail and demonstrated a fearlessness in trying new styles.
This authentic Prada black patent leather Vernice Gaufre ruched satchel is the large version. A top zip handbag made of ruched glossy patent lamb leather, characterized by original ‘gaufree’ puckered stitching done by hand. The front, back and sides feature buckles. All hardware is in a silver-tone. The front of the bag details the Prada logo and a patent leather luggage tag.
